Rescue

A wind of blaze, sounds of hiss surround my body
Heat is a perspiring factor of intent; my lungs are swollen filled with smoke.
A burning sensation takes over my body; fear, tears overwhelm my senses;
A new beginning is sure to be among
So gentle and soft I ease my body into my fatal position
For a moment a terror;
Voices a calamity of chatter
I cannot hear where my own breath is to cry out:
The prelude is over and the real happening has reached its climatic stage.
Arms of strength caress my head
Held as though I am a baby being cradled by the aftershock of a new birth.
